Addition by Toni Jordan

This 2008 novel follows the life of Grace Lisa Vandenburg, a single woman with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder who counts her steps and has an imaginary relationship with inventor Nikola Tesla. The first half of this book is an interesting fictionalized account of how a person with OCD would go about their daily lives. However, as the story continues, there's some odd happenings and the question of if the disorder can - or should - be cured. This novel is not one of my favorites, but I enjoyed the writing style.

Here's the Deal: Don't Touch Me by Howie Mandel

Howie Mandel's look at Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is fairly different from Marc Summer's (Everything In Its Place). This book is light on information and recollection about OCD and heavy on practical jokes and Hollywood/comedian life. The book turned me off with its gleeful recollections of embarrassing practical jokes, but there's some frank information in here about OCD and Howie's germaphobia.

Everything in Its Place by Marc Summers

Marc Summers' 1999 book is an open look at how Obsessive Compulsive Disorder has affected his life. As I wrote on Goodreads: Marc does do a good job of bringing the disorder out into the realm of acceptability. He explains the medical reasons behind the disorder with nice clarity and has a few interesting stories about other OCD sufferers. It could have used a little less Hollywood and a little more of that information.
